What is abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) surgery?

Why do some people want the tummy tuck surgery?

The majority of people who opt for a tummy tuck have an excessive amount of saggy skin around the middle that has been caused by weight gain, loss or pregnancy.

The best candidates for the tummy tuck in Poland are men or women who are in relatively good shape but are bothered by a large fat deposit or loose skin. The tummy tuck procedure is particularly helpful to women who, through multiple pregnancies have stretched their abdomen and wish it to return to normal.

The procedure for significant weight loss

The tummy tuck in Poland is performed under general anaesthesia. The abdominal wall is tightened by corrugating the straight abdominal muscles. After the plastic surgery, the tension is improved and the abdomens flattened, however, lower abdominal scarring and a circular scar around the navel may remain. Most often this surgery is combined with liposuction which enables the removal of any excessive fatty tissue from the sides and the upper part of the abdomen.

Recovery

After the first day of convalescence patients should feel able to walk with assistance. For 2-3 days after the tummy tuck, the patient should rest with their hip joints slightly bent, dressed with a soft elastic dressing.

Convalescence

It is advised that patients do not resume work for about 10-14 days after the operation. It is recommended that elastic garments are worn to support the lower abdomen and surgical area for a period of two months after the surgery. A 5 day stay in Poland post procedure is recommended.

Is there anything I can do to prepare for surgery in the abdominal area?
You can get all of your questions and concerns raised and resolved when you talk to our surgeon. As part of the preparation, you might be asked to get a medical evaluation, to adapt some of your current medication and stop any smoking habits. But don’t worry, you can find out everything you need to know in advance in your consultation.
How can I get the best results for my tummy tuck procedure?
It’s important that you talk through with our surgeon to make sure this is the right type of surgery for you, so that you can aim to get the desired look. Our surgeon will also be able to advise on the best aftercare you can take to make sure you get the results you're after.
Will the surgery remove my stretch marks?
Abdominoplasty surgery will make stretch marks less visible if they're on the exact areas of your excess skin that your surgery will be carried out on. The abdominoplasty is not designed to remove them. It is for other causes, such as ageing, previous surgeries or a big weight change.
When can I expect to see real results from my weight loss surgery?
This can really depend. Some people have felt slimmer and more confident within approximately one week. You might find that your tummy's skin feels tight after the operation, but this will calm down over a couple of weeks. This might be something you’d like to talk to your surgeon about. Our surgeon is qualified in surgery for removing excess skin.
Will there be any scars from my abdominoplasty?
You might get some scars from your surgery, but our surgeon can talk you through the likelihood of this. The scars tend to fade over time too. Our surgeon is highly qualified so he can do his best to make sure there is as little scarring as possible.
When can I exercise after the surgery?
After your surgery, we'd recommend not participating in any extremely strenuous activities for at least 3 months. Your stomach is likely to be sore and swollen for weeks and months after the procedure takes place. It's important that you undergo a full recovery process.
